Connecting the People Who Are
Changing the World
|
Chiapas
|

Who we are
|
We are a group of 30 organizers based in Vancouver,
B.C.., Canada, but
connected by Internet technology with other people and organizations
throughout North America. Our group includes the Saped society, which
works directly with the Indigenous cooperative associations (NGO'S) in Chiapas, which are
attempting to pursue a path of cooperative ecological development in the region.
We also include long-time activists on behalf of
human rights in
Chiapas; religious people of conscience; members of the Stewards Corporation movement, a
movement of poor people who seek to work together to care for one another and the
planet; and long-standing supporters of the Zapatista movment and participants in the
`international of hope'.
We also operate the only website devoted soley to
ending paramilitary
violence in Chiapas. It is at: http://www.stewards.net/chiapas.htm In
addition, we operate an interactive e-mail based `listserve', which provides a means of
rapid information-sharing and coordination for individuals and organizations across north
america, as well as in other places. The sign-up procedure for the
listserve is located at the website.
We are organizing locally in Vancouver. But we
are also seeking to
contribute to the formulation of a common platform, common courses of
action, and common means of communication and coordination, for all people who wish to
contribute to halting the paramilitary violence in Chiapas. |
